While 's Fear of the Dark was definitely more of a return to form for Iron Maiden, it still wasn't quite on par with their exceptional work from the 'lophovolmucotlaisubviecukosasag.coinfo an improvement over 's lackluster No Prayer for the Dying (both musically and sonically), the album debuted on the U.K. charts at number one. The opening "Be Quick or Be Dead" proved Maiden could easily hold their own with.

It is the last album made by Iron Maiden with Bruce Dickinson, until he and Adrian Smith returned in It was also the first album to be produced by bassist and band founder Steve Harris, and the last to feature the work of producer Martin Birch (who retired after its release).. The reason I gave this album fifty percent is the following: ten percentage points for each really good track on the album, “Fear of the Dark”, “Afraid to Shoot Strangers”, “Judas Be My Guide”, and “Childhood’s End”, five points for good production (a band as rich as Iron Maiden could afford good production by so it doesn.

  6. Again, the album sold very well, hitting #2 in the UK charts. This time however, Iron Maiden seemingly put a lot more effort into the album, and as result, came out with a better album. What really brought down No Prayer for the Dying was the lack of classic, or even superb, Iron Maiden material. This is all changed with Fear of the Dark.

  8. The "Fear of the Dark" tour included the band headlining at the Monsters of Rock festival thrown at Castle Donnington (for the second time). The concert was recorded and released as the album Iron Maiden Live at Donnington, which since has gone out of print and become very hard to find.
